Are you looking for a way to make your speech fun and different? Best Mans Speeches are a great opportunity to use props.

How to Use Props in Best Mans Speeches

A prop is an item the speaker holds up to illustrate his story. For example, let us say the groom has played baseball since he was a child.

The Best Man could talk about the groom’s participation in baseball as a child and display a child’s baseball hat to the audience.

Examples of other props that could be used in the Best Man Speech are:  trophies, prize ribbons, sports items, vacation souvenirs, holiday theme celebration items, hobby items etc.

The use of props should add to the story of the bride and groom, not detract from their special day. Best Men that use props in their speech can be a lot of fun for the audience to watch.

If a speaker decides to use props in the Best Mans Speeches there are two things he must remember:

First, it takes practice to pick up a prop and display it and put it away, while presenting the Best Man Speech.

Practice the Best Man Speech first and really be familiar with it.  When the Best Man knows his speech well, then he is ready to rehearse using props in his speech.

A second problem is that inexperienced speakers will pick up the prop and stare at it while they present their speech.

If the Best Man stares at the prop he loses connection with the audience. The right way is for the Best Man to pick up the prop and display it, while looking at the audience and continuing to speak.

The Best Man has many other responsibilities besides presenting his speech.
