Basics of Writing the Best Man Speech
Best Man Wedding Speeches can be challenging to make entertaining, include all the necessary parts and still be 5 to 10 minutes in length.
Writing the Best Man Speech Tip #1
To begin writing your Best Man speech, first allow yourself to simply brainstorm ideas. Allow the ideas and memories to flow freely with out editing them.
The audience enjoys learning about how the Best Man and Groom know each other.
How long have you known the Groom? Do you have activities or sports you do together? What do you admire about the groom?
The audience also likes to hear some personal stories about the bride and groom. How did the couple meet?
Do they share favorite hobbies or interests, or work in the same field? As well, be sure to offer a compliment about the bride in your speech.
Writing the Best Man Speech Tip #2
The next step is to pick out the best stories for the speech. Do you see any themes emerging? For example, let us say the couple likes bicycling, barbecues, and baseball.
The Best Man could talk about the couples’ favorite summer activities and add some detail.
Drawing themes together in the speech can be entertaining for the audience. As well, the Bride and Groom will feel that the Best Man made effort to make the speech personal.
Writing the Best Man Speech Tip #3
Each wedding reception will be organized differently.
The Best Man should enquire, well in advance, what specifically will be required of him at the wedding reception speeches.
Writing the Best Man Speech Tip #4
Some Best Man Wedding Speeches may include giving a toast to the bride and groom and a toast to the bridal parents.

At some weddings, the Best Man doubles as the Wedding Master of Ceremonies. In addition to writing the Best Man Speech he also acts as emcee. The emcee has the job of giving announcements and introducing the other speakers. Writing the Best Man Speech varies with each wedding.
